Description:  Monumental Stair and ornamental railing. Executed for a private residence. 
One of the challenges in designing these beautiful curved stairs is managing the changes in pitch. This is an elliptical design and therefore each stringer has two radiuses and thus two pitch changes. These changes are obvious in the steel stringers but "buried" in the deepened wood stringer section which allows for a smooth, continuous railing.
